Central canal

  • Rule of thumb:
    • >12mm is normal for any spinal level
    • 8-12 is mild stenosis
    • 4-8 is moderate
    • 0-4 is severe
  • However generally 10 mm is the more commonly taught threshold

MR

  • Use T1 sagittal to look at neural foramen
    • Though fat is bright on the T2 as well, an extruded disc will also be bright and might be mistaken for fat
